Silica Sand — Egyptian glass-grade 99 % SiO₂, foundry AFS 50–55, 98 % industrial sand and 200-mesh silica flour
Silica sand is bought on purity and on grain. A float-glass line specifies SiO₂ and an iron ceiling measured in hundredths of a percent, because Fe₂O₃ tints the melt; a foundry specifies AFS grain-fineness number and clay content, because they set mould permeability and surface finish; an oil-well cementer specifies a 200-mesh flour for strength retrogression control. Egypt's Sinai, Zafarana and Delta deposits are among the purest quartz sands in the region and sit within short haul of four loading ports.
Egypt Globe Group supplies four lines: Silica Sand Glass Grade SiO₂ 99 % from Zafarana for float and container glass, Silica Sand Foundry Grade AFS 50, a washed, low-clay Delta sand at AFS 50–55, Silica Sand SiO₂ 98 % from Sinai for industrial use, and Silica Flour 200 Mesh for oil-well cementing and paints. Iron drift between lots is the glass industry's standing complaint against regional suppliers. Egypt Globe Group's QA division, built in since incorporation, assays Fe₂O₃ and SiO₂ on every export lot at the port laboratory and issues the CoA before the B/L; a lot over the contracted iron ceiling is rejected at the loading port.
