Damietta Port — Egypt's primary bulk and salt loading hub, home of the EGG operations office
Damietta (port code / UN/LOCODE EGDAM) is Egypt's primary bulk export port — handling cement, salt, fertilizer, gypsum and general cargo from the Mediterranean industrial zones. With 17 m draft on the deepest berths and continuously modernising berth infrastructure, Damietta accommodates vessels from Handysize through Panamax / Kamsarmax, with selective partial-Capesize handling. Egypt Globe Group's New Damietta operations office — chartering desk, documentation coordination and the port QC laboratory — is on site, which is why Damietta is the default port for most EGG bulk cargo unless a different port is freight-shorter (Ain Sokhna for India / Far East, Al-Arish for Bardawil sea salt, Port Said East for ULCV / 22 m-draft requirements).
Damietta sits midway between Egypt's two salt source clusters: sea salt from North Sinai (Bardawil / El-Arish) ~250 km east via the coastal road, and rock salt from Siwa and Qattara via the Alexandria region ~500 km west. Cargo is consolidated at Damietta's covered and open bulk yards, verified by the port laboratory, then loaded via conveyor and ship-loader.
