01

Gargoub Port — Mediterranean loading point for Siwa Oasis rock salt

Gargoub is a Mediterranean port in the Matrouh Governorate on Egypt's north-western coast, listed by the Maritime Transport Sector of the Ministry of Transport among Egypt's commercial ports. It is one of the eight loading ports from which Egypt Globe Group ships, and it is where Siwa Oasis rock salt is loaded in bulk. The port is still being built out, so the facts below are the Ministry's own published figures — what is finished, what is under construction and what is planned — and the berth, draft and laycan for any given lifting are confirmed in the offer, not assumed from the port's design figures.

Gargoub is not yet in the UN/LOCODE list. The Ministry's port page gives the code EGGRB, which is the Ministry's own designation; use the port name "Gargoub" on a bill of lading or charter-party and quote the Ministry code only as a reference. Codes for the other Egyptian ports are in the Egypt port codes list.
