01

Safaga Port — Red Sea phosphate and dry-bulk hub, multi-purpose expansion live H2 2026

Safaga (port code / UN/LOCODE EGSGA) is Egypt's Red Sea mid-coast port, historically Egypt's primary phosphate export hub (via the Abu Tartour mining concession). As of 2026 the port is undergoing major expansion under the Noatum Ports Safaga Terminal project (AD Ports Group / Noatum subsidiary), which secured ~USD 115 million in financing in February 2026 to bring a new multi-purpose terminal online in H2 2026. Egypt Globe Group uses Safaga for phosphate rock, bulk minerals, cement and chemical-grade salt bound for the Indian Ocean and Far East, with a port-side QC team applying the group's per-lot Certificate of Analysis gate before the Bill of Lading.

Safaga is one of the group's 7 Egyptian loading ports; salt cargo here carries long inland trucking from North Sinai or Siwa, so it is booked where the destination lane or a combined mineral cargo makes the routing freight-optimal.
