As of 2026 the port is undergoing major expansion under the Noatum Ports Safaga Terminal project (AD Ports Group / Noatum subsidiary), which secured ~USD 115 million in financing in February 2026 to bring a new multi-purpose terminal online in H2 2026. Egypt Globe Group uses Safaga for phosphate rock, bulk minerals, cement and chemical-grade salt bound for the Indian Ocean and Far East, with a port-side QC team applying the group's per-lot Certificate of Analysis gate before the Bill of Lading.
