GOST 13830 — Russian/CIS Standard for Salt (NaCl)
GOST 13830-97: "Технический хлористый натрий. Технические условия" (Technical sodium chloride — Technical conditions) is the Russian Federation standard for industrial-grade sodium chloride. Used across the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) — Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, and the broader Eurasian Customs Union.
Defines technical sodium chloride for:
- De-icing road salt (highway, urban, airport)
- Chemical industry (chlor-alkali)
- Leather tanning
- Animal husbandry + agricultural use
- Industrial water treatment
- Drilling mud + oilfield
Excludes food + pharmaceutical salt (covered by GOST R 51574 + Russian Pharmacopoeia separately).

Grade I is the CIS premium tier — stricter purity than EU EN 16811-1 Grade A or US ASTM D632.
