ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management — Egyptian Salt Supplier Trust Marker

ISO 9001:2015 quality management certification for Egyptian salt suppliers. Why it matters for B2B procurement. Egypt Globe Group ISO 9001:2015 certified. Buyer trust + supplier risk-screening.

ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management — Egyptian Salt Supplier Trust Marker

For B2B procurement teams screening international salt suppliers, ISO 9001:2015 is the baseline trust marker. It certifies that the supplier operates a documented Quality Management System covering production, QC, traceability, customer feedback and continuous improvement. Egypt Globe Group holds ISO 9001:2015 across all divisions; the certificate describes a Quality Assurance division that has been at the nucleus of the group since incorporation in 2014 — "Quality at the Core" — rather than a system added for tender purposes.

The industry pain point ISO 9001 is meant to screen out is lot-to-lot inconsistency: many regional exporters can produce an in-spec type sample but not a repeatable lot. EGG's system is built around the per-lot Certificate of Analysis issued by the port laboratory before the Bill of Lading, with zero tolerance on specification deviation.

How EGG certifies conformity

ISO 9001 certifies the system; the system certifies each lot. The chain is the same for every salt shipment:

  1. Source release — on-site laboratories at the Siwa Oasis and Qattara Depression rock-salt mines and at the North Sinai (El-Arish / Bardawil) and Red Sea (Ain Sokhna) saltworks assay every production lot. Rock salt is guaranteed ≥ 97.00 % NaCl; sea salt is classified raw 94–97 %, washed 97.5–98 % or double-washed ≥ 99 %.
  2. Processing verification — washing, kiln-drying, screening and any E535 dosing are re-checked on the processed lot; the lot genealogy is recorded on the CoA.
  3. Port laboratory gate — the port-side QC team at each of the 7 loading ports samples the loaded lot per the ISO / ASTM sampling plan and issues the per-lot Certificate of Analysis before the Bill of Lading. Lots outside the CoA are rejected at the loading port.
  4. Independent verification — TÜV Austria (primary, EU / GCC), SGS, Intertek (US / UK / ECOWAS), Bureau Veritas or Cotecna on request sample, witness test and issue a Certificate of Inspection with sealed retained samples — typically 0.3–0.5 % of FOB value extra; included in CIF if the buyer requests upfront.
  5. Contractual guarantee — the specification is guaranteed at the port of loading and binding under the sales contract; voyage condition is governed by the B/L and marine insurance; laycan discipline with documented NOR / SOF.

Independent third-party verification

For buyers requiring verification beyond internal QC + ISO 9001 audits:

TÜV Austria / SGS Egypt
pre-shipment inspection + lab analysis
Intertek Cairo
composition + spec verification
Bureau Veritas Egypt
vessel loading supervision + draft survey
TUV Egypt
quality management audit

Typically 0.3-0.5% of FOB value extra; included in CIF if buyer requests upfront. Full protocol: inspection & quality control.

Why this matters for your tender

Most serious B2B procurement teams require ISO 9001 + (where relevant) ISO 22000 / HACCP / Halal as table-stakes for supplier qualification. Failing any of these eliminates suppliers automatically. Egypt Globe Group holds all of the above and issues current certificates on RFQ. Product standards certified under the system: EN 16811-1, BS 3247, ASTM D632, AASHTO M-143, GOST 13830, SS-EN 16811-1. Catalogue: bulk salt. Document set: trade documentation.

Submit an RFQ + ask for certificate package — PDFs of all current certifications are sent with the Proforma Invoice.

Frequently asked questions

Who certified Egypt Globe Group to ISO 9001:2015 and what does the scope cover?
The certificate is issued by TUV Egypt, a TÜV NORD subsidiary, with annual surveillance audits and recertification every three years. The scope covers salt mining and harvest at Siwa, Qattara, Bardawil, North Sinai and the Red Sea; washing, kiln-drying and vacuum-evaporation processing; bulk, 50 kg PP, 1 MT FIBC and 25 kg pallet-shrink packing; the QC laboratory with 12 technicians and 8 instruments; and documentation including the CoA, Certificate of Origin and phytosanitary certificate.
Why does ISO 9001 matter when screening a salt supplier?
The industry problem it screens out is lot-to-lot inconsistency: many regional exporters can produce an in-spec type sample but not a repeatable lot. Most serious B2B procurement teams treat ISO 9001, and where relevant ISO 22000, HACCP and Halal, as table stakes for supplier qualification, and failing any of them eliminates a supplier automatically.
How does the ISO 9001 system translate into control of each salt lot?
Under clause 8.5 the lot number is carried from the source laboratory report through the CoA, Packing List and Bill of Lading. Under clause 8.6 the port laboratory issues the per-lot CoA before the Bill of Lading. Under clause 8.7 an out-of-specification lot is rejected at the loading port, never re-graded or renegotiated, and a nonconformance record with root-cause and corrective action is kept.
What other certifications does Egypt Globe Group hold beyond ISO 9001?
ISO 22000 and FSSC 22000 food safety management for food and pharma grade SKUs, HACCP, ISO 14001 environmental management, ISO 45001 occupational health and safety, Halal certification from the Islamic Food Authority for food and animal-feed SKUs, GOEIC mandatory pre-shipment inspection clearance, EUR1 preferential origin for EU destinations and the EAC mark for CIS and Russia. Current PDFs are sent with the Proforma Invoice on request.
What does independent third-party verification cost on top of ISO 9001 and internal QC?
Typically 0.3–0.5% of FOB value, included in CIF if the buyer requests it upfront. TÜV Austria and SGS Egypt provide pre-shipment inspection and laboratory analysis, Intertek Cairo composition and specification verification, Bureau Veritas Egypt vessel loading supervision and draft survey, and TUV Egypt the quality management audit.
