Bulk salt for leather tanning — hide preservation

Leather tanneries worldwide use Egyptian rock salt for hide preservation (salting / brining) before chrome or vegetable tanning. Egypt Globe Group supplies a dedicated medium-grain dried rock salt from the Siwa Oasis and Qattara Depression mines — NaCl ≥ 97.5 %, ≤ 1.0 % moisture, 1–3 mm — and a coarse wholesale tanning grade, with a per-lot Certificate of Analysis issued at the port laboratory before the B/L.

In hide curing the salt is in contact with the raw material for weeks; iron or copper contamination appears as rust staining on the finished leather long after the salt invoice is paid. The group's Quality Assurance division assays Fe and Cu on every lot and rejects at the loading port any lot outside the CoA — never re-graded.
