Manganese ore is the feedstock of ferro-manganese and silico-manganese, the alloys every steelmaker uses to deoxidise and desulphurise the melt. A smelter buys ore on manganese content first, then on the ratio of manganese to iron, on phosphorus (which reports straight to the alloy) and on lump size (fines blind the furnace). Egypt Globe Group operates this line as a re-export of South African and Ghanaian lump ore, consolidated through Egyptian deep-water ports for ferro-alloy plants in the Mediterranean, Gulf, South Asia and Far East.

Manganese is a trade in which grade substitution — a 40 % cargo sold against a 44 % certificate — is the classic regional failure. Egypt Globe Group's QA division, built in since incorporation, accepts inbound cargo only against the origin certificate plus its own arrival composite, and the port laboratory issues a per-lot CoA before the Bill of Lading. A lot below the contracted Mn or above the phosphorus ceiling is rejected at the loading port, not re-priced.
