Ferro-alloys — FeSi 75, high-carbon ferro-manganese and high-carbon ferro-chrome for steel deoxidation and alloying
Ferro-alloys are bought on the alloying element and penalised on the tramp elements: a steelmaker pays for silicon, manganese or chromium units and deducts for aluminium, carbon, phosphorus and sulphur, which carry straight into the heat. Lump sizing matters as much as chemistry, because fines oxidise and are lost to the slag. Egypt Globe Group supplies the three workhorse grades — ferro-silicon 75 from Chinese and Russian smelters, high-carbon ferro-manganese from South African and Chinese producers, and high-carbon ferro-chrome from South Africa and Kazakhstan — consolidated through Egyptian ports for steel mills and foundries in the Mediterranean, Gulf, East Africa and South Asia.
The catalogue lines are Ferro Silicon 75 % (lump 10–100 mm for deoxidation), Ferro Manganese High Carbon (Mn ≥ 74 %) and Ferro Chrome HC 60 % (Cr ≥ 60 % for stainless production), each supplied with chemical analysis per lot. Off-grade substitution — a 72 % silicon cargo against a 75 % certificate — is the regional failure. Egypt Globe Group's QA division, built in since incorporation, samples every lot per ISO 4552 at the port and issues the CoA before the Bill of Lading; a lot below the contracted alloy content or above a tramp-element ceiling is rejected at the loading port.
