Feldspar — potash feldspar from the Eastern Desert for glass and ceramic bodies
Feldspar is the flux of the ceramic and glass industries: its alkali oxides (K₂O, Na₂O) lower the melting point of the silica body, and its iron content decides whether the fired tile or glass is white or stained. A ceramic buyer therefore specifies two numbers above all — total alkalis and Fe₂O₃ — and a supplier who cannot hold them lot-to-lot forces the kiln to re-formulate every delivery. Egypt's Eastern Desert pegmatites yield a potash-rich feldspar suited to sanitaryware, floor tile and glass batches.
Egypt Globe Group supplies three lines from Eastern Desert sources: Feldspar Powder K-spar 60 %, Feldspar Powder 200 Mesh ground for sanitaryware and floor tile, and Feldspar Lumps Ceramic Grade with K₂O + Na₂O ≥ 11 % and Fe₂O₃ ≤ 0.15 %. Alkalis and iron are assayed by XRF at the port laboratory on every lot and the CoA issued before the B/L; a lot with iron above the contracted ceiling is rejected at the loading port — the group's operating model since 2014, Quality at the Core.
