Egyptian limestone — high-calcium carbonate with lot-by-lot chemistry

Egypt's Eocene limestone plateaus — the Mokattam and Suez formations east of the Nile and the Western Desert carbonate belt — are among the purest high-calcium deposits on the Mediterranean, which is why they underpin the country's cement, steel and paper industries. Egypt Globe Group supplies three carbonate lines from this base: limestone CaCO₃ 95 % bulk from the Suez quarries for cement kilns, steel flux and paper mills; dolomite CaMg 95 % from the Western Desert for steel, glass and refractory batch; and coated ground calcium carbonate 2–5 µm for plastics, paint and rubber compounding.

A steel plant buying flux limestone prices the cargo on CaO and penalises SiO₂; a cement kiln controls its raw mix on CaCO₃ and MgO; a masterbatch compounder rejects a coated GCC lot on top-cut and moisture. Each is sensitive to a drift of one or two percent between lots. EGG's QA division samples at the quarry bench and again at the port, runs XRF chemistry and loss on ignition on every lot, and issues the Certificate of Analysis before the Bill of Lading. Lots outside the contractual chemistry or sizing are rejected at the loading port.

Frequently asked questions

What grades of Limestone can I buy from Egypt?
Egypt Globe Group supplies three carbonate lines from this base: limestone CaCO₃ 95 % bulk from the Suez quarries for cement kilns, steel flux and paper mills; dolomite CaMg 95 % from the Western Desert for steel, glass and refractory batch; and coated ground calcium carbonate 2–5 µm for plastics, paint and rubber compounding. There are 3 SKUs in the catalogue.
What is the minimum order for Limestone, and how is it packed?
Containerised (FCL): 100 MT coated GCC; 1,000 MT limestone and dolomite; break-bulk vessel: 2,000 MT limestone bulk (contracts to 200,000 MT); dolomite 1,000 MT; GCC to 5,000 MT. Packing — Bulk vessel · 1 MT FIBC jumbo bags · 50 kg PP woven bags. Sold FOB / CFR limestone; CIF / DAP coated GCC; full FOB / CFR / CIF set on request.
Which loading ports and lead times apply to Limestone?
Loading ports are Damietta (EGDAM), Alexandria (EGALY), El Dekheila (EGEDK), Ain Sokhna (EGSOK). Lead time is 2–4 weeks from a confirmed order.
What quality checks does a lot of Limestone pass before loading?
At the port laboratory gate: XRF chemistry, LOI, moisture, sieve or laser PSD. Per-lot CoA (CaCO₃, MgO, SiO₂, Fe₂O₃, LOI, sizing, moisture) from the port laboratory before B/L; out-of-spec lots rejected at the loading port. An independent inspector can be appointed — SGS / TÜV Austria / Intertek / Bureau Veritas: increment sampling of bulk cargo, draft survey, witness XRF and LOI, sealed retained samples.
Which specifications and shipping documents cover Limestone?
ASTM C25 (chemical analysis of limestone and lime), EN 196-2 (XRF), EN 933-1 (sieve analysis), EN 12620 (aggregates) — referenced on every CoA; ISO 9001 supplier systems. HS code: 2521.00 limestone flux / cement stone · 2518.10 dolomite · 2836.50 calcium carbonate.
