Wood & timber — strength-graded structural pine and pulp-grade chips
Egypt has no commercial softwood forest, which makes it one of the Mediterranean's structural importers and a natural trading hub for timber moving between Northern Europe, the Gulf and East Africa. Egypt Globe Group supplies two lines through this hub: kiln-dried pine sawn timber, strength class C24, 47 × 97 mm, from Scandinavian, EU and Russian mills for structural framing, formwork and pallet stock; and eucalyptus wood chips, pulp grade, Eucalyptus globulus, from Egyptian plantations and Brazilian / Uruguayan sources for kraft and dissolving pulp mills.
Timber contracts fail on grading and moisture: a pack sold as C24 that contains C16 pieces, or kiln-dried stock that has reabsorbed moisture on an open quay and arrives at 24 % with blue stain. Chip contracts fail on bark, fines and oversize, which decide digester yield. EGG's QA division verifies the mill's grading stamp and CE marking on every pack, checks moisture content with a calibrated resistance meter at the port, screens chip samples for size distribution and bark, and issues an inspection certificate and phytosanitary certificate before the Bill of Lading. Out-of-grade lots are rejected at the loading port.
