Pulses — Egyptian faba beans, green lentils and desi chickpeas graded by size, protein and moisture
Faba beans are Egypt's national staple; domestic demand for ful medames far exceeds the Delta and Upper Egypt crop, so Egypt is both a producer and a large importer from Australia and the UK. Egypt Globe Group supplies Egyptian and Australian faba beans for food and feed, Canadian and Australian green lentils, and desi chickpeas 7 mm and up from Australia, Turkey and India, all contracted on GAFTA terms and shipped from the Egyptian port network.
Pulse contracts are lost on insect damage, moisture and screen size. The Quality Assurance division sieves, counts and tests every lot at the port before the Bill of Lading — moisture, foreign matter, damaged and insect-damaged seed, sizing — and rejects lots outside the contracted CoA at the loading port.
